WHY WAX IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Waxing temporarily removes the hair from unwanted places. It is more effective than shaving because waxing removes the hair from the root, not just the surface of your skin. Over time, the hair becomes lighter, thinner, and sparser. In some cases, it will stop growing altogether.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR HAVE TO BE?

For best results, the hair should be at least ¼ of an inch long before waxing. If you previously shaved, a good rule of thumb is to wait about 2 weeks before scheduling your wax.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR MY WAX?

Not at all. All we ask is that you arrive on time.

CAN I GET A WAX WHILE TAKING MEDICATION?

We always want you to check with your doctor first!!! If you are taking any form of Retin-A or Differin Renova, any skin thinning acne medication or any antibiotics, you will need to have finished the medication at least 7 days prior to your service. We cannot complete your wax service while you are taking these medications, it will lift your skin. If you are currently on any of these medications and your doctor has said that it is okay to get a wax, we will need a doctor’s note. Always be honest with your wax professional about anything that we may need to know in order to protect you.

HOW LONG WILL MY WAX LAST?

Usually a wax will last about 3-6 weeks. After 6 weeks without waxing, it is like starting all over again. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first 2-3 weeks. By weeks 3-4 growth increases. Also, heat stimulates hair growth, so during the summer you may need to wax a little more often. With regular waxing, the time period between waxes should increase due to less hair growth. Keep in mind that every person is different and results may vary from person to person. We do offer products to help you achieve a longer, smoother wax… Just ask your wax professional and she can help you figure out your timing and which products you need in order to achieve the goals you are looking for.

DOES THE HAIR GROW BACK THICKER?

NO! This is a myth. We are removing the hair from the root and not the surface. With regular waxing, hair will grow back finer, thinner and slower. Eventually, hair will not grow back at all!

DOES IT HURT?

We recommend the No Scream Cream. It eases up to 80% of the pain and discomfort that comes from waxing. No Scream Cream is a topical anesthetic lotion that absorbs into the skin and will not interfere with your waxing service. All you need to do is apply it 30-45 minutes before your appointment. It’s not messy and will not harm your clothes. One bottle will normally last about 5 waxing appointments, but also depends on the size of the surface being waxed. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Keep in mind that we will be removing hair from the root. Our wax professionals are trained to help make your experience as comfortable as possible.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Depends on the service that you choose. Check with our scheduler to find out how long you should plan to be available.

WHO WILL BE DOING MY WAX? DOES SHE KNOW WHAT SHE’S DOING?

Absolutely! All our professionals are licensed estheticians. They also go through our own professional training with the owner of the company, who is also a licensed esthetician.

IS THERE AN AGE RESTRICTION TO RECEIVE SERVICES?

No, but our professionals reserve the right to decline a service if they feel that the client is apprehensive at any point.

MOTHER NATURE IS HERE, CAN I KEEP MY APPOINTMENT?

Yes! Keep in mind that it will make the area a little more sensitive and you may experience a little discomfort. Just wear a clean tampon at the time or your service.

I’M PREGNANT, CAN I STILL WAX?

Absolutely! Due to hormonal changes, you may experience skin sensitivity. Our professionals will do everything possible to make sure your experience is as comfortable as possible. The last 2 months of pregnancy, we do want you to check with your doctor, just to be sure they are comfortable with you getting waxed.

I JUST HAD A FACIAL, CAN I STILL WAX?

If you received a basic facial (cleanse, steam, exfoliation and mask), you can still wax. If you received a specialty facial (alpha or beta hydroxy peel, microdermabrasion, or any other deep exfoliation treatment), then you need to wait at least 7 days to receive a wax service. Always check with your doctor.

WHAT ABOUT TANNING?

We recommend waiting at least 24-48 hours between tanning and waxing services. Both services will leave your skin more sensitive. Waxing does exfoliate the top layer of the skin, so you will be more likely to sunburn. If you do you plan on going in the sun, wear sunscreen with a higher SPF.

I HAVE A SUNBURN, CAN I KEEP MY APPOINTMENT?

No. We cannot use wax on any skin that is sunburned, it will damage your skin. If skin is burned, irritated, or unhealthy in any form, please wait to book your reservation at a later time.

WHAT ARE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS AND HOW CAN THEY BE MINIMIZED?

No sun or tanning after waxing. Wear sunscreen. Sun exposure within 24-48 hours can cause you to burn easier and also can cause hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin).
Avoid spray tans within 24-48 hours of waxing. The spray will tend to grab more to the freshly waxed skin, causing discoloration.Avoid heavy exercise for at least 10 hours after waxing.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, and other heated sources for 48 hours.
Do not use bar soap. It has a synthetic film and will clog pores causing ingrown hairs.
Exfoliate 2-3 times per week (more than 3 times per week can cause your skin to produce more oil which will cause more ingrown hairs). Exfoliate 24 hours prior to your appointment for best results.
Avoid sexual intercourse for at least 10 hours.
